Urgent Treatment Centre (UTC) Derriford

A new Urgent Treatment Centre (UTC) has opened its doors to patients at Derriford Hospital. Located in the brand-new, three-storey Dartmoor Building, the UTC will be open daily from 8am to 8pm, for patients of any age.

Urgent Treatment Centres are walk-in facilities and are available to treat injuries and illness which are not life-threatening but still require urgent treatment. The new UTC will provide treatment in addition to the Cumberland Centre in Devonport and Minor Injury Units in Tavistock and Kingsbridge.

You should visit the UTC if you have an injury which is not life threatening, but still requires urgent treatment such as:

  • Limb fractures
  • Minor illness
  • Sprains and strains
  • Minor head injuries
  • Minor scalds and burns
  • Bites and stings
  • Foreign body in eyes
  • Infected wounds and cuts

Cumberland Centre

Did you know that you don’t need to pre-book an appointment at the Urgent Treatment Centre Cumberland, just drop-in to the unit between 08:00 and 18:00. On-site parking is free.

The Urgent Treatment Centre Cumberland is open every day (08:00 – 18:00) to treat you if you have an injury which isn’t life-threatening, but still requires urgent treatment.

Our team of nurse practitioners have undertaken specialist training and are able to assess, diagnose and treat patients of all ages (we also have x-ray facilities 09:00 – 18:00).

Examples of the problems we can see you for:

  • Cuts – we can use glue, steristrips (paper stitches) or sutures to close wounds
  • Small burns or scalds
  • Bites and stings
  • Sprains and certain fractures (upper and lower limbs)
  • Minor head injuries
  • Infected wounds
  • Foreign bodies in eyes

You don’t need to pre-book an appointment, just drop-in to the unit between 08:00 and 18:00. On-site parking is free.
