Patient Participation Group

What is the role of the Patient Participation Group?
At its simplest, patient participation refers to patients who wish to take a more active interest in developing local healthcare services. The idea is for patients and staff to work together to share ideas to help patients take more responsibility for their own health and to help improve the services offered at Peverell Park Surgery and University Medical Centre. A PPG will seek to improve communications through the practice website as well as through notice boards, email and text.
Our group is a Facebook virtual Patient Participation Group (vPPG)
We will occasionally ask members of this representative group questions about our services, such as your opinions on our opening times, the quality of care or service you received, patient access, innovation, demand and capacity, and patient services. You will also have the opportunity to make suggestions and submit proposals through the Facebook vPPG.
To join our vPPG, you will need to follow us on www.facebook.com/peverellparksurgery and like some content for us to send you an invite. Once you have joined the group, Facebook automatically invites patients who are engaging with posts, ie viewing or commenting.
What else can a vPPG do?
- Help us to communicate to patients how recent changes to the NHS will affect services provided.
- Let the practice staff know more about the level and standard of service they provide – from a patient perspective.
- Help the practice decide on overall service priorities
- Help improve the experience of patients attending the Surgery
Who will be on the vPPG?
The decision is entirely yours. Your main contact at the practice is Teresa Nation, our Managing Partner. Depending on the topic, other staff members and GPs may also be involved.
What the vPPG is not about
We will not address personal medical issues or individual patient complaints, as there is already a well-established procedure in place for handling these.
How do patients communicate with the vPPG?
- You can contact us electronically using our practice email address: d-icb.administration.peverellpark@nhs.net. Please note that this email address is for the vPPG and should not be used for appointments or other patient-related queries or requests.
- You may also write to Teresa Nation at the practice address.
How will I get feedback from the vPPG?
- Information will be available in the waiting room at the surgery
- Information will be available on the practice website
- If you provide us with your email address and mobile telephone number we will add you to our contact list and we will contact you by email or SMS message.
So it’s back to you…..
The PPG will only work well if patients communicate with us.
